Everyone at some point in their life starts looking to the future and wondering if they can find out what the future holds and turn to new age techniques. There are many divination techniques or fortune telling as it’s also called, but which one should you try?

Well let’s look at the options. You could visit a Tarot reader who use the medium of Tarot cards, or you could get hold of some cards yourself and read for yourself. Tarot reading is probably one of the most popular forms and used by many people today. The type of cards used can vary as there are so many types. Generally they consist of 78 cards. 56 cards are known as the Minor Arcana and the other 22 are Major Arcana. The minor cards are split into the four elements, wands represent fire, swords represent air, pentacles represent the earth and the cups represent water. For just a reading with the minor arcane you can actually use a simple pack of playing cards. I have read tarot cards for years and have found them to be extremely accurate. I am certainly not an expert but I have friends who I have read for and they spend the following six months ticking of their list of bullet points they made during their reading. They always come back for more readings which I am always happy to oblige.

Another form of divination is astrology. Most of us at some point have read our horoscopes even if just for fun. Reading general horoscopes gives you a very basic summary of what the planets are up to and what this might mean for you. However as there are millions of people with the same zodiac sign how can this ring true to all of them? Well they can’t, the best way to get a properly astrology reading is to have a full birth chart reading created especially for you time and date of birth. This will give you a much more accurate reading tailored to the exact placement of planets at your time of birth.

Visiting a psychic is another option. Now it’s said that everyone has a touch of psychic power within them. It is just a natural instinct and kind of sixth sense sort of thing. Unleashing this power could help you with all aspects of life. Psychics are able to sense things and some which are better known as mediums claim they can communicate with spirits. This might sound like a load of rubbish but unless you have had a reading from one you would be best advised to hold your opinion. If seeing a medium is of interest to you why not visit the many spiritualist churches up and down the country. Most are free or a small fee of a pound. Now you are not paying for a personal reading but you will see how some mediums work with a small bunch of people. You may be lucky to get a message from one of your deceased loves ones. If you want a personal reading you will need to find a medium or psychic as they may call themselves that offer one on one sittings.
All of the divination techniques above can be found throughout the country, but how can you tell a charlatan? Well this can be tricky but it’s the same for any other service you want to use. Your best bet is to ask around your friends and family and see if any of them can give you a recommendation. You will be surprised to find out who has been to psychics or tarot readers – many might not admit this but once you express your interest many names could get forwarded to you.
