Note: read the meditation a few times before doing it. If possible, record or have friend read out the meditation to you.
Sit comfortably. Close your eyes. Breathe in deeply, nine times. Focus on the top of your head when you inhale and on your belly when your exhale.
Imagine a tiny, big-eyed, brown bunny. This is very young bunny that has just left its cave, fully aware that there are many dangers out here. It has yet to learn about the power of its feet, ears and nose. It’s still ignorant of how fast it can run, how well it can hear, how useful is his sense of smell.
Now, see an ideal version of yourself out in nature. You are holding the bunny. You have been entrusted with this bunny to take it to the other side of the woods. Feel how the bunny trembles when hearing unexpected sounds or perceiving shadows and movement. Unlike your bunny, you have walked this path before and know what to do and where to go. Feel in your heart great compassion for this small creature. Know that its mistakes and momentarily nasty moods are born out of ignorance and fear. It counts on your patience and love to help it grow and reach its goal. How would you comfort this scared little animal? How would you act towards it? How would you try to inspire courage and confidence in it? How patient would you be as the bunny learns to use its skills?
See the bunny jump from your hands and explore the surroundings, before jumping back into your protection. Here what words or gesture you give it to make it feel at ease. Imagine the bunny doing this several times, each time acting more confidently, showing knowledge and skill at avoiding dangers and pitfalls, until you are both walking side by side and reach the other side of the woods.
Breathe in deeply three times. In your own time, wiggle your toes and fingers. Open your eyes.
There is a divine wisdom within you that knows its way around the woods of Life. Your young ego is the bunny. Now you know how to treat and talk to your ego to help it rest in the security of your Higher Self, so together they can go through the wilderness, the first supporting and guiding the latter one, until experience and trust allows the integration of both.
